Stone Origin: Rhodonite is named for the Greek word rhodon meaning “rose” due to it's rose colored. Rhodonite was said to be given to travelers in ancient times as protection. It was thought to increase one’s heartbeat when imminent danger is perceived. In Russia rhodonite was carved and made into tiles, serving bowls, ornamental pillars and sculptures for Russian aristocrats and the Russian czars. In fact many Russian czars were known to have large quantities of rhodonite.
